2006 Syrah

Russian River

Consisting mostly of fruit from our friends at Bennett Ridge Vineyard in Healdsburg, this Syrah screams classic Russian River in its best vintages. From its intense reddish indigo color to the rich gamey, white-pepper nose, this wine represents the best attributes of a cooler-climate Syrah. On the palate, one gets the sense that this is a complex wine with a deep core of concentrated, juicy black fruits, with a layer of wild blueberry unfolding on the mid-palate. The powerful tannins evident in the mouthfeel suggest this wine is still adolescent in its development and should continue to gain complexity and elegance for several years, though it will pair beautifully now with rich and/or spicy meat dishes. Try this with a lamb curry dish or with Sukhi's Chana Masala.
